Backpack Program

The weekend Backpack Program was developed by the Bracken County Family Resource Center in response to an alarming number of students going without food on non-school days. This program sends food packs containing 6-8 shelf stable items home with students weekly. We are currently serving 57 students, however this number continues to grow weekly. The Backpack program is funded 100% on community donations.

You can help by donating any of the following items:

  • Individual juice boxes or pouches

  • Cans of soup, chef Boyardee, Vienna sausages, etc.

  • Packs of peanut butter & crackers or cheese & crackers

  • Breakfast items such as pop tarts, small cereals, granola bars, cereal bars

  • Any individually packaged snack item such as fruit snacks, chips, cookies, goldfish crackers

  • Fruit, Jello, or pudding cups

There is a drop off bin located by the front door. If you have any questions or would like more information, you can contact the Family Resource Center at 606-735-3349 or see Trish Conley and Kamon Cucchiara.
